After reading this article and viewing the images that Marey captured, write a reflection on what you think Marey's motion studies contributed to the development of the motion picture.  What makes his work so interesting?

Etienne-Jules Marey shot his photos using a gun, which had a revolving cylinder with photographic plates, capable of shooting 12 frames a second. The invention of his photographic gun influenced the motion picture camera, which would become capable of shooting film at 24 frames a second.

Why is the directors role so important in a film?  What are some of their responsibilities on a film? The director's role is so important because they're creatively responsible for bringing the film to life. They have a vision, and they have to make that a reality. They are are also responsible for casting, shots, compositions, and editing. Directors need to have a deep passion for filmmaking, and be committed.
