Why is the 1st Assistant Director so important?  What are some of their responsibilities on a film?

A 1st Assistant Director is important because they're assisting the director, co-ordinating all production activity, and supervising the cast and crew. Their main responsibility is to keep filming on schedule by driving it forward, making announcements and giving directions to co-ordinate the cast and crew.

Why is the directors role so important in a film?  What are some of their responsibilities on a film? The director's role is so important because they're creatively responsible for bringing the film to life. They have a vision, and they have to make that a reality. They are are also responsible for casting, shots, compositions, and editing. Directors need to have a deep passion for filmmaking, and be committed.
