Who was Louis Le Prince?  What was his contribution to cinema?  After reading about him, what surprises you about reading this article? Louis Le Prince is considered to be the father of cinematography, who actually captured the first moving image before Thomas Edison. What I found interesting was the rest f his life story. He was scheduled to have a public performance on his technology, but he was mysteriously disappeared.

Why do you like this early silent film?  What is so interesting about it?  What are two common things that you noticed about the films you saw while searching for your video on youtube? Two common things that I noticed while searching for videos on YouTube is that the majority of them are between the 1920's and 1940's. Also, the short films total run time average around 10 minutes. I haven't watched any early silent films, at least not ones that I can remember. The one that I watched in class is Frankenstein (1910), and I found it quite interesting, mostly because I'm fascinated by the story of Frankenstein, and it's interesting see how every film brings the monster to the screen. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/HZ-OrfJHHro" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

What were Muybridge's contributions to motion pictures?  What breakthroughs did he make?  Why are they significant?  What part of the story did you find the most interesting?  Why? Eadweard Muyridge contributed with his movement photographs broken down frame by frame. He was also responsible for the invention of the Zoopraxiscope, a device to project moving images. The part of the of the story I found the most interesting was the murder he committed after he found out that his wife was having an affair with another man, who he shot dead.

After reading this article and viewing the images that Marey captured, write a reflection on what you think Marey's motion studies contributed to the development of the motion picture.  What makes his work so interesting? Etienne-Jules Marey shot his photos using a gun, which had a revolving cylinder with photographic plates, capable of shooting 12 frames a second. The invention of his photographic gun influenced the motion picture camera, which would become capable of shooting film at 24 frames a second. 

Why do you think we wouldn't have filmmaking without the invention of photography?  Pick three of these innovations on this list and explain their historical importance and why you think it led to the invention of motion pictures. We wouldn't have filmmaking without the invention of photography because film rolls were possibly conceived by the methods used to develop pictures. Some of the inventions by photography that have historical importance are most notably the flexible film roll, photo chemistry, and daguerreotype, and calotype.
