08/31/2017 | EDITING UNIT GOALS

Lets set some goals for the editing unit.  Take a moment to determine three goals that you'd like to make that you can complete by the end of the editing unit.  What are these three goals?  Why have you chosen them? The three goals that I want to complete by the end of the unit is to 1) Stay organized and on track. 2) Get along with everyone. And 3) Put a lot of effort into my videos. I chose these three goals because I don't want to fall behind, fail the class, have a bad reputation with anyone, as well as for my videos. I know I can complete these goals because I'm committed.

08/30/2017 | COPYRIGHT AND FAIR USE

Explain the concept of fair use in your own words?  How do you think you can you apply fair use to you work that you create in this class? Fair Use is the technique of using someone else's copyrighted work, without their permission, for school/education purposes, news reporting, commenting/criticism, or nonprofit purposes. You can only use a small portion of copyrighted work if you don't violate the four points of Fair Use. If we want to use copyrighted work in this class, then we should follow the four points. Aside from that, we have to give credit to the creator, to show respect.

08/29/2017 | 21ST CENTURY SKILLS

What are the four 21st century skills?  How do you think you can apply each of these to your work in this class going forward into the year? Be specific and give at least 3 examples. 21st Century skills include being creative, problem solving, critical thinking, collaborating, communicating, and responsibility. These skills will help us in this class to work with others, together, as a team. If we collaborate, we can't work. If we don't communicate, we can't get anything finished. If we're not responsible, no one will want to work with us.

08/28/2017 | DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP

What do you think that digital citizenship is?  What does it consist of?  Why might it be important? I think the meaning of digital citizenship is the way you behave, digitally. Digitally following the rules as a citizen. Digitally, as in, with technology. Following certain protocols of how and how you shouldn't use technology at work. This is important because something bad can happen if technology is used and cared for properly. Technology can break due to poor use and knowledge, or if not used carefully, can break internally. Digital citizenship is a necessity.

08/25/2017 | EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS

What are employability skills?  Give three examples of what you feel are effective employability skills that you think could help you get a good job.  Why are they important? As we learned yesterday, we covered some of the "21st Century skills" that can bring us towards success. We covered four of those skills, and those are Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creativity. Obviously everyone needs communication. You can't work with others if you don't communicate with each other, we can't read minds. Collaboration is important because that's how we get work done. We have to work together, put our minds together, because you're stronger as a team. Critical Thinking is a key skill for bringing new and clever ideas that'll bring you towards more success. The last is Creativity, which is very important in the film industry. It's always good to think outside the box, and not use cliches.

08/24/2017 | SET SAFETY WRAPUP

Now that you've completed the set safety and etiquette lecture, why is it so important?  What parts of it do you think will be difficult to follow?  What parts would you like to learn more about? Safety is a HUGE priority when you're on a set. Why? There are a lot of potential dangers on set. If people aren't being safe, someone can get seriously injured, or die. Etiquette is also important because you can't act, say or do however and whatever you want. Film etiquette is very strict, so you must follow the protocols if you want to be in the industry. Either way, without anyone telling you, you should still be cautious on set when you're surround by equipment that you have no idea how to use. Aside from that, you should always have a good behavior when you're in public, or in the workplace.

08/23/2017 | TEAMWORK

Watch the following video below and write a 1 paragraph reflection on the following prompt: How does teamwork effect filmmaking?  Why is it so important? A team is always stronger than just one person. Sometimes it might be better to work alone, if it's at school, because some students are just complete jerks, and just disrespect their team and don't contribute to anything. It's different outside of school, because usually it's something more important than a high school project. In high school, it might be difficult to work in groups if you're stuck with people that you hate. But if you're in a team outside of school, such as in the film industry, you'll most likely either not have hatred towards anyone, because you probably don't know anyone, or you just have to put that hatred aside and work with the people on your team to get the job done. Teamwork is important, powerful, and makes a bigger impact than just one person. You can get the job done easi...
