Some of the key things that one has to keep in mind is to most important, and obviously, tell a good story. another thing that is important to keep in mind is aim for a personal perspective, and go in depth with the storytelling. The most successful documentaries are the ones that have interesting characters trying to get or do something, well placed exposition, as well as tension and conflict. The films ending is your last word and has a big influence on the films final impact.

One technique that was explained in the video was the Rate Stretch Tool, adjusting the speed depending on how you adjust the clip. The second technique is changing the the Clip Speed / Duration. There's also Ripple Edit, which fills in gaps. Another feature is Reverse Speed, which is exactly what it sounds like.
