7 BASIC PLOTS | 5/1/18
Pick two of these plot types that most interest you and write about them. Why does each of these plot types interest you? What makes them seem more interesting than the other ones? Which two of the plot lines out of the seven would you like to use for a future video project? Why?
The Seven Basic Plots: Why We Tell Stories was published in 2004 and written by Christopher Booker. The seven plots mentioned in the book are overcoming the monster, rags to riches, the quest, voyage and return, comedy, tragedy, and rebirth. If I had to choose two of them that are my favorite, I would have to choose the quest and tragedy. Why did I pick those two? I picked the quest because I grew up and have grown to admire various films that involve a quest. I love The Lord of The Rings trilogy, which revolves around a quest entirely. I grew up loving the Indiana Jones franchise for their adventurous quests across the globe, and because Indy himself is awesome. I love the quest because it changes characters and makes them face challenges that define them. My other favorite is tragedy because they're dramatic, which is my personal favorite genres. I love films and TV show that turn dark, but in a smart and clever way thats believable.
