SOUND FOR THE SCREEN SUMMARY | 4/20/18
Revisit your earlier blog posts about sound. What are 3 things you you learned during the course of this unit? What did you learn about them? Explain in detail. What are two things that you still feel you need to learn more about? Why? What was one thing that you found the most interesting? Why?
Some things that I learned during this course are the history of sound, including Thomas Edisons Phonograph, Dr Lee DeForest and the Audion Tube, Emile Berliner and the Gramophone, as well as Television taking over. We also went over Monophonic and Stereophonic sound, there differences and features. One thing in particular that I found funny was Walla, which is the sound of the murmur of a crowd in the background. The reason I find this to be funny is because the background people (extras) are required to just repeat the word Walla over and over and over again. We learned about the different types of cables, including balanced and unbalanced, 1/8" mini jack, RCA, 1/4 TRS, and XLR.
